Jazz Camp provides an opportunity for students to develop their understanding of small group jazz and improvisation.

Jazz Camp is a 3 day workshop of intensive classes aimed at improving jazz small group skills and improvising. It finishes with a concert for our participants to show off their new skills to family, friends, and any interested members of the general public.

Core classes include:

Instrumental masterclasses

Improvisation classes

Small group sessions

The faculty and coordinator changes from year to year, to keep additional structure and classes fresh! Therefore extra information about an exact schedule is released closer to the Camp.

The camp is open to age 10 and up, but primarily aimed at high school/university aged participants. NO PREVIOUS JAZZ KNOWLEDGE is required, but we do expect participants to be a grade 3 AMEB minimum as a rough guide, so they can keep up on their instruments.

All instrumentalists are welcome to attend the camp. Please note that there will only be teachers for standard jazz instruments and strings, so atypical jazz instruments may miss out on useful information during the instrumental masterclass sessions.

Cost is $350 for the 3 day camp.

We look forward to seeing you there!

"I really enjoyed the whole experience and the lessons were really interesting, especially the masterclasses, careers in jazz and jazz history. I was surprised how quickly I became comfortable with improvising (even though I still have a lot to learn) and the teachers always provided positive and constructive feedback. It was also very inspiring watching the teachers perform as it's definitely something to aspire to. Overall, it was very well organised and a really motivating experience! I've definitely listened to more jazz in the days since the camp than I have in my life, and I love it so thankyou to all the teachers and everyone involved in organisation." - Caitlyn 2016
